About the MyCare Project
The MyCare project is a joint initiative of the Computer Science Department of the University of Groningen and of the Department of Psychiatry of the Groningen University Medical Hospital. MyCare aims at building information technology tools to support patients with schizophrenia for personal recovery and risk assessment. The tools are tested with actual patients in a controlled environment. This exciting PhD project combines the creation of innovative software tools with actual medical field work.

The position is financed in the context of the Dutch ZonMW program for medical innovation. Another PhD student will be hired to work on the MyCare project in the field of Psychiatry.

The position is open in the Distributed Systems unit lead by Prof. Marco Aiello in close collaboration with the Intelligent Systems unit lead by Prof. Nicolai Petkov .

Required profile
-You should have a M.Sc. or equivalent in computer science or a related discipline
-You are expected to have an excellent academic record (list of examination marks from your university degree) and be curious, creative and ambitious.
-You should be able to write scientific articles and reports (proven by your graduation thesis or another comparable report) and be fluent in both written and spoken English.
-You should enjoy programming and designing medium/large size (Web-based) information systems.

Conditions of employment
The University of Groningen offers outstanding candidates a Ph.D. position. The position is for a period of four years which should result in the Ph.D. defense of the candidate. The salary starts from about 1500 euros per month in the first year and will be adjusted to general price movements once a year. After one year, the performance of the candidate will be evaluated to decide whether there is sufficient progress to expect a successful completion of the Ph.D. thesis within the remaining three years. A training program is part of the agreement to support the Ph.D. candidates in their professional and personal development as well as their career planning.
